Suggested Changes for Revised Edition
« on: November 05, 2013, 06:41:49 PM »
Here is what I have planned for the revised edition.  Nothing is finalized and things will likely change.

1.  Add on optional setting
2.  Adjust races, including the restricted/excluded list based on the optional setting.
3.  Produce a streamlined generic rules as an appendix that removes the restricted/excluded abilities from the core rules.  Restrictions are most justified in terms of setting, not something natural.  Any restricted/excluded abilities will only be included in the setting.
4.  Remove adding extra point to attributes based on skill selection.
5.  Add in extra points to be allocated to attributes.
6.  Tweak the raising an ability rules to make abilities improve via use.
7.  Move the core rules to a 3d10 system.
8.  Add in optional rules for how to handle different magic systems.

Interesting list to read over.  Any particular reason for #4?  I don't necessarily disagree but I was just curious what made you look at that.

Simplicity.  You allocate attributes, then do skills, then go back to attributes.  Not that it is a huge thing, but I want to streamline it.   The only reason to have abilities modify attributes would be because there is a relationship between them.  In that case, it should be even tighter.  That might result in a more radical and have abilities selected and that largely determines what the attributes would be.  This of course would be moving even further from the original design.
